Object-Oriented Methodology for Optimizing Information Flow in Manufacturing
Abstract
Successful integration of new techniques into manufacturing systems requires the managerial systems to be receptive. This requires compatibility between current ideas in the management literature - in this case, of empowerment and team building - and the structural demands of the technological innovation. This paper demonstrates that object-oriented programming systems are a natural solution to production control in cellular manufacturing systems. The information flow in the cellular structure is illustrated with a case study of distributed production control written in C++.
