Contrary to the strong theoretical background of photogrammetry, the automation of photogrammetric principles for the efficient use of photogrammetry as a means for industrial measurement is rather poorly investigated. The automation of measurement processes is getting more important with the future development of production and hence of topical interest. With the automatic 3D measurement the solution of the correspondence problem is of central importance, i.e. automatic point detection and determination of image coordinates. Exemplary, we will present INPHO company's most recent approach to automatic 3D-surface reconstruction with the MATCH-I system using FhG-IPA Institute's new coded target for automatic image orientation.
