An unidirectional carbon-fiber reinforced epoxy was investigated under tensile loading with strain rates between 10(exp-5) and 60 s(exp-1). The load was applied in fiber direction as well as perpendicular to it. The dynamic characteristics of stiffness and strength are found to be anisotropic. In case of longitudinal loading a change of failure process was found for increasing strain rates.
