Laser diode-based welding of plastics is a joining technique which can readily be used in industrial environments. Laser diode-based welding has two major advantages, unmatched flexibility and cost-efficiency. There are virtually no limitations to the geometry and size of the parts to be joined.Design freedom is enhanced because the weld seams can take on virtually any shape without concern about the welding process.Laser welding reduces the thermal load of the plastic material to the minimum necessary, thereby reducing the risk of tension cracks and resulting in a weld seam of high quality and joint strength.
