Abstract
Computer controlled manipulators with very large reach are required in a lot of areas. Conventional systems (without robot control) do already exist in the construction industry for many years. This paper gives a brief overview of the current state of the art and the progress required in various technologies. Furthermore possible applications for such systems are described.
