Abstract
The invention relates to the field of powder metallurgy. The task of the invention is to use a carbide-based spray powder which is easy to produce technologically and is low-cost, by which oxidation phenomena are largely avoided during thermal spraying in atmospheres containing oxygen. This is solved by the invention by the fact that the core of the spray powder is composed of carbides or gapless mixed crystals of carbide and nitrite of the IV and V subgroups or of carbides of the VI subgroup together with one or several metals of the iron, nickle or cobalt groups and this compound is surrounded by a coating of less than 1% parts by volume of carbon in an active form, related to the total composition. The main possible application of the spray powder is for thermal spraying with plasma, flame or laser to increase the wear resistance of highly stressed components.
