Abstract
In this paper a new fuzzy based control concept for severely disturbed industrial processes with large dead-times is presented which is characterized by a combination of fuzzy adaptive controllers with a physically based con-ven-tional predictive control concept. It has been success-fully applied to a complex rheological glass manu-facturing process. Practical experiences with the control design, optimization, implementation and process opera-tion will be discussed.
