Titel
Innovative techniques in material flow automation
Abstract
A well-organized material flow concept is the backbone of a cost-effective, time-efficient and quality-oriented production. Installation and continous optimization of both material flow equipment, layout, control and organisation are complex tasks which require a good expertise in both technology and methods by the industrial engineer. Numerous computer-based tools for material flow analysis and design are available and are regarded as an indispensable aid to attack the implementation and maintenance of complex logistic systems. The scope of this paper is to present latest technologies in material flow analysis and design through simulation as well as solutions of automated equipment for transportation, warehousing, palletizing, and material handling. These aspects are discussed employing various examples of projects or applied research carried out by IPA.
