Local vibrational mode absorption lines from hydrogen in GaP have been observed at 2072.7, 2175.1, 2204.3, 2226.0, 2244.0 and 2245.7 cm high -1. The lines at 2175.1 and 2204.3 agree with previous reports while the other four lines are new. A preliminary assignment is given for all six lines, based on the tetrahydrogen model established for a similar center in Si:H.
