Abstract
Results of a European R&D project (1996-98) in the field of robot performance criteria, related test methods, robot calibration, and measurement systems required for robot testing and calibration are presented. As a result, an entirely new suggestion for an international standard on robot performance testing was made at the end of the project: IRIS-DIS 9283. Measurement systems were developed and improved and a suggestion to standardise robot calibration prepared. All results were compiled in a "Handbook on Robot Performance Testing and Calibration" to assist robot users and the further standardisation process.
