Titel
Impact damage in fatigue loaded composite structures
Abstract
Nonvisible impact damage at critical locations reduces static and residual compressive strength of a cocured composite skin-stringer structure. Fatigue loading of impacted skin specimens in compression first increases the number of delaminations before secondly driving some of them out of the original impact damaged area. The observed phenomena are utilized to develop a method for analytical prediction of compressive strength of composite structure after impact, and after impact and fatigue.
