Abstract
In comparison with the traditional high pressure injection moulding, hot moulding requires significant lower manufacturing costs for dies, lower moulding temperatures and pressures, and shorter dewaxing times at lower temperatures. In addition, this method shows significant lower die wear and allows an uncomplicated recycling of slip remainders. All this advantages make the hot moulding process interesting for near net shape forming of ceramic parts in the range of 100 - 10000 pieces. The paper describes the manufacturing process of pressureless sintered silicon carbide by hot moulding.
