Heat transfer in regenerative propellant gun - effect of pressure oscillations

Wärmeübergang im regenerativen Flüssigantriebssystem - Auswirkung auf Druckoszillationen
Abstract
Liquid propellant guns frequently experience combustion driven pressure oscillations, usually generated if the rate of combustion is too high, which are expected to affect the amount of heat transfer to the gun tube wall. To investigate the effect of pressure oscillations, eroding type surface thermocouples, having a response time of about 1 µs have been fitted to the tube wall of a calibre 40 mm regenerative liquid propellant gun and the bore temperature fluctuation and gas pressures were measured.
