A hybrid tracking approach for augmented reality applications
Abstract
This paper presents a new approach of hybrid tracking in the context of augmented reality. The recently developed 6-DOF hybrid tracking prototype combines both our visual marker-based tracking system and an Intersense IS-600 acousto-inertial tracking system. The flexible architecture of the system allows to easily integrate other sensor types in the future. The paper proposes the sensor fusion and calibration concept and describes the main signal processing modules. An overview of the software architecture will be given and finally results will be presented.
