Title
Pilot plant tests of pressure relief with high viscosity, reactive and nonreactive systems
Abstract
Pressure relief experiments with a highly viscous nonreactive and runaway reaction system were carried out on the pilot plant scale. Highly viscous reactive and nonreactive polyvinyl pyrrolidonesolutions with varying viscosity were chosen as the working fluids. In principle, the pressure relief of systems with and without chemical reactions shows a similar characteristic behaviour in view of the influence of the viscosity. Generally, the vapor/liquid disengagement decreases with higher viscosities for both nonreactive and reactive systems.
