Titel
An ultra-low-power sensor interface for RFID-based sensor networks
Abstract
An ultra-low-power four-channel sensor interface for RFID-based sensor networks employing an incremental ??-ADC is presented. The sensor is embedded in an EPC Gen2-compliant UHF/microwave RFIDtransponder. Power consumption can be regulated by means of the sampling frequency (max. 1MHz), sensor signal bandwidth (DC-16kHz), output resolution (max. 16 bits) and output word rate. Two channels can be cascaded (2-2 MASH configuration) further increasing the dynamic range and/or reducing the number of clock cycles to obtain a given resolution. The power consumption per channel ranges from 4 to 20?W at a supply voltage of 1.4V with a minimal dynamic range of 101dB.
