Titel
Adsorption in automotive carbon canisters
Abstract
The actual and forthcoming legislative rules and regulations for automotive evaporative emission devices demand strict emission levels. Therefore, a reliable design tool is needed. The objective is to implement a sorption model in modern simulation software to get a tool, which is able to predict the performance of a canister in the design stage. This would yield cost reduction, performance optimisation and reliable design parameters. In the first step, a one-dimensional adsorption model is applied to predict the break-through curve, the load of the carbon bed and the temperature profiles for both the gas phase and the carbon bed. A comparison of experimental an predicted data is presented.
