Titel
Numerical and experimental study of convective heat transfer with complicated turbulent flow in a laboratory dryer for turbulence model assessment
Abstract
This paper presents experimental and numerical investigations of turbulent heat transfer in a laboratory dryer for turbulence model assessment. The CFD code FLUENT was applied. The performance of various models, especially the grid sensitivity to prediction of Nusset numbet, was tested using available DNS data of turbulence channel flow. The kw-sst turbulence model with enhanced wall function that was found to give reasonably accurate prediction of heat transfer with lower grid sensitivity was applied to the flow calculation in the dryer. The calculated velocity profiles near the substrate and heating-up behaviours on pure and combined metal/noise isolating-mat sheets were compared with experimental results.
