Product life management using product condition models
Abstract

The Product Condition Model (PCM) consists of geometric and technological data from the product development. It incorporates product- and time-related use and wear information, as well as external changes on the product. Since the attribute values of a product in use change continuously, the PCM hast to be updated, requiring an information flow from the physical product to the model. The matching between real product and digital model is done within certain intervals, for which frequency and regularity depend on the planned application. The PCM exclusively represents product attributes which are relevant for monitoring tasks. Since the application requirements can change during life cycle, the model is flexible by means of data types and composition of attributes. Along with consistent interfaces to the IT-platform and to the product itself it serves as an information carrier that reduces interfaces and connects systems.
