Prozesskammer zur Biomobilisierung polymerer Oberflächen mit einer UV-Laser-Behandlung
Abstract
An increasing number of research fields, like tissue engineering or biochips require tissue carriers with biocompatible surfaces. The authors used one method to influence the hydrophobe polymer surface of polystyrene (PS) tissue carriers with ArF excimer laser structuring. The structuring process was conducted under reactive air conditions to immobilize carboxyl groups (-COOH). For this special structuring process a hermetically sealed functionalization chamber was built. The chamber was used for proving the adherence of -COOH groups with laser treatment in normal air in contrast to treatment in a nitrogen atmosphere. The authors evaluated -COOH groups on the PS tissue carrier with thionin acetate. Contact angle measurement was used to quantify the hydrophilic behavior. First experiments showed that mice fibroblasts (M2-10B4) adhered on the PS surface preferring the treated areas.
