Weighted maximum likelihood algorithm for time and frequency synchronization of DVB-T systems
Abstract
Synchronization in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems remains a very important procedure in the design of digital receivers. Systems using OFDM such as Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T) are sensitive to symbol timing and carrier frequency offsets. Failure to correct these offsets would result in Inter-Carrier Interference(ICI) and Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) where the orthogonality in the OFDM signal gets lost. Different synchronization algorithms were proposed, mostly with a trade-off between performance and complexity. In this paper, we propose a method for timing and frequency offset estimations which leads to the desired performance with the optimized implementation complexity.
