In order to bring PV manufacturing lines to life, a large number of systems and supplies need to interact properly to support processes and workflows in production. Standardization has proven to be an essential basis for establishing these networks efficiently and effectively throughout many industries.
This presentation will give an overview on standardization potentials within PV manufacturing and approaches to exploit some of these by current, standardization activities. The effort towards a standard PV IT equipment interface, which is currently being developed by the SEMI PV-EIS task force, will be highlighted as an example to explain how the industry requirement for a specific standard can be channeled into a standardization process within the SEMI organization and to review potentials and limitations of standards in more detail. Furthermore, it will discuss methods and tools required to bring the standard to life.
