According to some analysts in the field of telecommunications network [1], the digital home in the future is a media center combining Triple-Play services, which consist of High Speed Internet (HSI), Voice-over-IP (VoIP), and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and Video-on-Demand (VoD) services. The provision of Triple-Play services demands high bandwidth and predictable performance on the network. Hence, the network architectures for Triple-Play services must be well designed and examined carefully. In this Thesis, two existing network architectures for Triple-Play services are analyzed, modeled, and simulated. Based on the existing architectures, we propose a new network architecture for redundancy and perform simulation experiments to compare network performance between different architectures. In addition, we discuss the feasibility of our proposed redundancy architecture with regard to its performance and additional cost. As part of this Thesis, we also discuss the issue of Quality of Service (QoS) for Triple-Play networks.
