Abstract
The high work hardening rate and ductility of high manganese steels is due to the strong twinning induced plasticity (TWIP) effect in addition the more common dislocation plasticity observed in classical steels. In order to accurately predict the evolution of texture as well as the developing anisotropy of such steels, texture evolution models must account for the TWIP-effect, both in the orientation changes and the plastic behaviour. Using the VPSC model, we evaluate various twinning models proposed for texture evolution in polycrystals, in comparison with experimental data.
