Virtual Marketplace for SME Co-Operation
Alternative
Virtueller Marktplatz für Kooperationen Kleiner und Mittelständischer Unternehmen (KMU)
Abstract
Small and medium sized enterprises (SME) create the backbone of the economy in most European countries. Traditionally, their strengths lie in their adaptability, flexibility and closeness to the market. However, they also have their weaknesses - small market power, lack of funds to process large orders and realize chances in new markets through the creation of new products or new technologies. To overcome these weaknesses and retain their strengths, SMEs are increasingly trying to bundle their competencies and resources in co-operations with other specialists. Through these co-operations, competencies and resources can be temporarily combined in the form of virtual enterprises. Due to the fact that SMEs have no or little experience with these inter-organizational co-operations, a virtual marketplace for all kind of co-operations was created. It helps SMEs to find appropriate partners, stores information on how to build up and manage a co-operation and saves knowledge collected in co-operation projects. It is an information and communication internet platform for all companies interested in building up co-operations easily and rapidly.
