Titel
Silicon-on-insulator (SOI) delay-line interferometer with low polarization-dependent frequency shift for 40 Gbit/s DPSK demodulation
Abstract
A 40 Gbit/s SOI (silicon on insulator) rib-waveguide delay-and-add interferometer is presented. Across the C-band the authors demonstrate high uniformity, low loss, PDL (polarization dependent loss), and PDFS (polarization dependent frequency shift) (< 1 GHz). RZ & NRZ DPSK (return-to-zero & non return-to-zero differential phase shift keying) balanced-detection measurements at 40 Gbit/s are included. Here they shall present a Mach-Zehnder Delay-Interferometer (MZDI) device realized in SOI rib-waveguide technology, which exhibits very low PDFS. Since the device is to be integrated with a balanced photodiode pair to form a DPSK receiver chip, RZ & NRZ DPSK balanced detection eye-measurements are included to demonstrate demodulation functionality. For RZ-DPSK the bit-error ratio of the demodulated signal was measured as well Entnommen aus <a_href="http://www.fiz-technik.de/db/b_tema.htm" target="_blank">TEMA</a>
