Highly resolved spectral shaping for fast and accurate solar cell characterization
Abstract
The spectral distribution of the incident radiation is crucial in determining the short-circuit current of a solar cell. Our spectral shaping setup can reproduce a wide range of spectral irradiance distributions with distinct spectral features, including the global AM1.5 solar reference spectrum at a low irradiance level. Using a dual beam setup and a differential measurement technique allows us to directly measure the differential responsivities, which represent the slopes of the short-circuit current versus irradiance curve, at various adjustable bias irradiance levels. We found that the short-circuit current of a test solar cell and the deviation from linearity in the short-circuit current versus irradiance curve were spectrum-dependent. A measurement comparison with the Differential Spectral Responsivity (DSR) setups at PTB and CalLab PV Cells at ISE was used to confirm the high accuracy of the results.
