Model-based optimization of a sensor pre-concentrator system
Abstract

The dominating parameters of a sensor pre-concentrator (PC) system were evaluated using a FEM-Simulation in COM-SOL with a diffusion-based model. The simulated material - MIL-53 - is a metal organic framework (MOF). The concentration factor of the PC is calculated by the FEM-Simulation in dependence of the parameters adsorption time and amount of PC-material. Furthermore, the influence of changing system geometry and PC-characteristics can be evaluated. Thereby it is possible to determine the ideal system-configuration. For example, the ideal amount of PC-material with fixed remaining parameters. On the basis of a specific gassensor-PC-system in a temperature cycle operation (TCO) for the detection of benzene a model to optimize the capability of the PC is presented.
