The widespread development and use of digital technologies provide companies with new opportunities to optimize end-to-end processes, which include internal, supplier-oriented and customer-oriented processes, by implementing lean information flows. Existing approaches for the modelling, analysis or quantification of processes and information flows reach their limits. They do not take the optimization possibilities of digitalization from an end-to-end perspective sufficiently into account. This paper describes the requirements for future interdisciplinary approaches. Additionally, existing approaches will be evaluated and significant elements for the requirements will be highlighted.
