3D relative dose measurements with a µm thin dosimetrically active surface layer
Abstract
A µm thin dosimeter based on a single layer of inorganic phosphor particles has been developed and its properties were qualified for its use for 3D dose mapping. Dosimeter response of these particles is the luminescence decay time after excitation with near-infrared light. As this dosimeter can be directly sprayed onto the surface of three-dimensional curved objects it is particularly useful for dose distribution measurements of complex product geometries. By scanning the complete surface of the objects after irradiation three dimensional dose maps were derived. Results on plastic bottles for two irradiation set-ups are compared to film dosimetry results and discussed.
