Abstract
Industry 4.0 is accompanied by an increasing spread of cyber-physical systems (CPS), which allows for the collection of vast amounts of data along the product life cycle. This opens a whole new range of possibilities for the providers of these CPSs to offer advantageous digital services based on system data-so-called smart services. But finding promising smart services ideas is not trivial. Henceforth, we propose a framework consisting of a smart service ideation canvas, as well as supporting tools to derive the necessary information to fill it. Most noteworthy are 20 functionality patterns for smart services.
