Abstract
This paper discusses the use of Virtual Reality in the field of factory planning/factory design to gain a rapid start of production. Analyzing typical challenges and demands in nowadays factory planning Virtual Reality is recommended to provide smarter planning results. The software Mod!Fact is presented as an example of a Virtual Product and Production Planning Tools (VPPT) that support factory planning using Virtual Reality technologies. Specific features for animation, interaction and interprocess communication under consideration of their benefits for the field of application will be presented. Finally a practical example is presented to illustrate the benefits of the software Mod!Fact.
