Vom 12m-Bus zum 36m-BRT-System - Ein modulares Fahrzeugkonzept für den Personennahverkehr
Abstract
To face the upcoming shortage of fossil fuels and the increasing carbon dioxide emissions novel public transport systems with high efficient drive trains must be considered to ensure a sustainable mobility in future cities. Modularly designed vehicle concepts combined the advantages of light rail systems and buses. A major objective of these vehicles is lower energy consumption per passenger or per capacity unit. In order to reach a high energy efficiency it is necessary to adapt the capacity of public transportation vehicles to the different operational requirements. The modulary designed AutoTram, which was created by Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems and Hübner GmbH, demonstrates a possible solution for the combination of high efficient hybrid propulsion system and a flexible vehicle concept. An electrical power train enables the recuperation of breaking energy using an energy storage unit that consists of batteries and ultra capacitors. Furthermore multiple driven axles are possible. Additionally a multi axle steering concept allows the configuration of long vehicles and bidirectional traffic.
