The crosslinking of synthetic polymers or biomolecules requires the use of expensive, activated crosslinkers or toxic substances that significantly reduce the field of application of the crosslinked moieties or require complex cleaning of same. The crosslinking of biomolecules results not only in improved mechanical properties but also in stabilizing and activity-increasing effects. It is therefore highly advantageous to introduce a non-toxic, biocompatible crosslinking process that can be used with as many molecules as possible and thus opens the way for novel functional materials.
