Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the position estimation of a radio frequency (RF) emitter using a single airborne observer platform moving along a preplanned trajectory. When considering small unmanned aerial systems, the main restrictions on the surveillance payload are power consumption and weight. Therefore, the reduction of required receiver channels can be a significant advantage. We present results from field trials using position estimation by fusion of AOA and TDOA measurements gained from a dual-channel receiver and an array antenna. Both measurement methods make use of techniques that do not require complex multichannel receivers or a sensor network.
