Titel
OLED-on-silicon microdisplays: Technology, devices, applications
Abstract
The key enabler of OLED microdisplays is the monolithic integration of OLEDs on top of silicon wafers (referred to as OLED-on-Silicon technology). Hereby the last metal layer of the silicon CMOS process defines the shape of the sub-pixels. The organic layers themselves are typically unstructured inside the active area. In this way it is possible to realize tiny displays with extremely high pixel density, since the minimum pixel size is typically defined by the CMOS pixel circuit underneath the OLED electrode. This is to report on technology and device architectures for various applications.
