Titel
Siliciumcarbid gebundene Diamantwerkstoffe - Herstellung, Mikrostruktur und Eigenschaften
Abstract

The increasing demand on high wear resistant components of a wide range of industrial applications are connected with even high requirements on the used materials. High-performance materials based on silicon carbide in combination with diamond can cover the demand providing a variable and economically technology. The focus of this thesis is the preparation of diamond-SiC composites and their microstructural design. For a multitude of industrial components only high loaded surfaces should filled with diamond particle, therefore a substantial topic in this thesis is the preparation of diamond-SiC/SiSiC layered composites. The prepared material samples were investigated with various mechanical, physical and thermophysical characterization methods and the results were correlated with the microstructure of the composite. One major aspect is the stability of the metastable diamond phase, which mainly characterize the properties of the material. Under ideal conditions the diamond forms a epitaxial interface with the reactive formed silicon carbide. With the use of high resolution microstructural characterization methods a building mechanism was proposed, which explains the formation of the phases as well as the effects at the diamond-silicon carbide interface. Based on the entirety of the accomplished studies first prototyping components could be formed with the developed technology and could be applicated in real industrial use. These tests should show the potential of this class of materials.
