Abstract
Plasticizers adjust the mechanical characteristics of granular propellants while deterrents have an influence on combustion. Both species are mobile inside the polymer matrix implying that they may migrate through the grain. The process is influenced by temperature.
For this paper a camphor coated propellant was exposed to different temperatures. Afterwards the spatial distribution of the deterrent camphor inside the propellants was determined by FTIR microscopy.
First insights into the migration profile subject to time duration of temperature storage are presented for the temperatures 65 °C, 70 °C and 75 °C.
