Titel
Sensor for multiaxial high-frequency load data acquisition on railway wheels
Abstract
Wheel measuring technologies, which collect realistic and damage-relevant forces and torques are, although widespread in the car- and truck industry, at tram manufacturers and operators up to now only little in application. With the development of the innovative rail measuring wheel LBF®.R-Wheelos (Rail Wheel Load Sensor) the quality of results for tram measuring wheels, the realisation of measurements during operation and the subsequent processing of the measured signals for test programs and load standards can significantly be improved. In particular, the complex vertical and horizontal forces, torques as well as the interaction of the wheel/rail contact can for the first time get realistically collected separately and evaluated. That way innovative measuring technology with reciprocal data exchange of experimental results and numeric simulation individual load assumptions can get collected and differentiated on location. Therefore design engineers have access to qualitative und quantitative reliable data for load- and stress analysis, which is necessary for durable design of tram vehicles and components. A prototype will be tested in the tram network in Frankfurt in Mai 2006. Beyond this is planned to develop the wheel load sensor technology to enhance its application and employment in the regional and high-speed rail traffic.
