Titel
A VHF waveform for the CORASMA simulator
Abstract
Cognitive radio is an emerging technology that has been under heavy research in the recent years, as it is considered to be a promising solution for the spectrum scarcity problem. In the European Defense Agency's project Cognitive Radio for Dynamic Spectrum Management (CORASMA) a high precision cognitive radio simulation environment was developed based on an artificial UHF waveform. Target of that project was to demonstrate the advantages of cognitive radio usage for military operations. This paper describes the extension of that simulator by the Future Multi-band Multi-waveform Modular Tactical Radio (FM3TR) VHF test waveform. In addition to the adaptation of the waveform to the simulation environment including the cognitive manager, also the enhancement of the environment for handling VHF signals is described. Simulation results show the applicability of the FM3TR test waveform for cognitive radio purposes.
