Sandwich materials offer high stiffness in combination with small weight. Functional integration allows for additional active and passive functionalities. The paper deals with sandwich materials with sensor and actuator functionality using integrated piezoceramics. The challenges in production are examined in the paper by experiments and numerical simulation. In order to enable the sandwich material for forming, the adhesive properties are highly significant. An appropriate process chain is developed for manufacturing a semi-finished part with integrated piezoceramics which is suitable for forming.
