Titel
Investigations on the influence of anisotropic material properties of gear teeth on their macroscopic behavior
Abstract
A significant contribution to develop modern resource efficient drive technologies is provided by cold-rolling for the manufacturing of gear teeth, which has now reached a level of development that makes it possible to produce running gears for use in vehicle transmissions. The new production process for gears implies a different component behavior, which has to be evaluated before using the new method. Besides investigations regarding the load capacity, the dynamic behavior of the gear wheels is also very important, particularly in regard to the noise excitation in modern drivetrains. The paper contains investigations on cold rolled gears to determine some of their properties in detail. The theoretical principles of material anisotropy following cold forming processes are discussed as well as the results of investigations on gear teeth. It is shown that the production method can have an impact on the elastic material behavior of gear teeth.
