Feuchtekorrosion von Wärmeschutzschichten auf Basis dünner Silberschichten
Abstract
Heat minor coatings based on thin layers of silver improve the thermal insulating properties of double or triple glazings due to their high reflectance in the infrared range of the optical spectrum. By adjusting the thickness and embedding the silver layers in oxide layers, the transmittance in the visible range of the optical spectrum can be kept high. Within the cavity of double or triple glazings, the silver layers are protected against corrosion, but start to corrode in open atmosphere. This is driven by the tendency of silver to agglomerate, where the oxidation of the interface in between silver and embedding layers plays an important role. Suitable adhesion and barrier coatings can reduce this corrosion process.
