Abstract
Die Erfindung betrifft wasserloesliche ionische Copolymere aus hydrolysestabilen quaternaeren Ammoniumeinheiten sowie sekundaeren Amineinheiten und gegebenenfalls am Stickstoff substituierte Carbonsaeureamideinheiten. Erhalten werden diese durch eine Copolymerisation eine Diallyldialkylammoniumverbindung mit einem N-Vinyl-N-Alkylcarbonsaeureamid und anschliessende Total- oder Partialhydrolyse. Die sekundaere Amineinheit ermoeglicht die kovalente Kopplung der Copolymere an geeignete reaktive bzw. aktivierte Oberflaechen.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Water-soluble cationic copolymers of formula (I) with hydrolytically-stable quat. ammonium units (A) and sec. amine units (B). R1 = 1-12C alkyl; R2 = 1-3C alkyl; X = a suitable counter-ion; and a, b = 1-99 mol% based on units in the whole molecule. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method for the production of (I) by radical copolymerization of a diallyl-dialkyl-ammonium compound with a N-vinyl-N-alkyl-carboxylic acid amide in a solvent, followed by partial or complete hydrolysis. USE - For coating surfaces, for the antibacterial treatment of substrates, for the antistatic treatment of substrates and as a non-stick treatment for substrates (claimed). ADVANTAGE - New cationic polymers which can be permanently coupled to reactive surfaces to provide a durable cationic finish.
