Abstract
In the last decades, due to the usage of hard superabrasives like CBN and Diamond, the significant increasing of material removal rate as well as performance in the grinding technology could be achieved. However, the advantage of superabrasives can not be fully utilized without process oriented dressing of grinding wheel.
In the grinding with CBN-grinding wheels the question is always which dressing parameters must be used for the defined grinding process. In order to answer this question, a long systematic research performed in Competence Center of Grinding Technology and Superfinishing (KSF) at the University of Furtwangen. The results of the tests prove the importance of dressing parameters and show that by the true selection of the dressing process parameters (dressing overlap factor U(d), ration of dressing speeds q(d) and the periphery velocity of grinding wheel by dressing v(cd) ) a stable grinding process for a long grinding time without sharpening after dressing with acceptable grinding results can be achieved.
