Abstract
Volltext Research Projects Summary:
DESIRE is conceived as a joint research project with two foci: one focus is on basic research on methods and algorithms for service robots and the second focus is on implementation of these methods and the development of service robots for domestic applications.
Basic research in DESIRE addresses fundamental issues such as robot architectures, models and ontologies, mobile manipulation and perception, mechatronics while the development of applications aims at the integration and evaluation of the research results in a common technology platform.
The objectives of DESIRE are:
- the specification and implementation of a reference architecture
- the promotion of technology convergence through the development of a common technology platform
- to achieve a technology leap towards dependable, capable, and affordable key functions
- to achieve a technology leap towards dependable, capable, and affordable key components
A shortterm and mediumterm exploitation will be promoted through specific application developments "Service robots for hospitals" and "People mover for outdoor environments."
