Abstract
Machined components that are produced in a large number of pieces are undergoing intense optimization of the production processes. The main focus lies in reducing the production time by applying optimized technological parameters. The potentials resulting from reduction of positioning times by time-optimized motion control have so far not been exploited. The following contribution will describe the basics of time-optimized positioning motion and present the resulting potentials. The results of the investigations on time-optimized adaptation of the positioning motions achieved the objective of reducing the production times. The used method to describe the trajectory by degree 5 polynomials, calculated based on the dynamic characteristic axis values, and its transfer to the CNC control SINUMERIK 840D proved to be sufficiently robust for infeeds with 2 involved axes and for positioning motions involving rotation and pivoting axes. By considering additional parameters influencing path planning in the NC core when calculating the trajectory - besides jerk, acceleration and maximum axis speed - further reduction of the production times of approx. 3-5% can be achieved.
