Mössbauer study of iron-nitride-based magnetic fluid
Abstract
In this study, iron-nitride-based magnetic fluid (MF) is produced and characterized using transmission electron microscopy and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Mössbauer spectra were recorded from both powder and frozen MF samples. The 77 and 300 K Mössbauer spectra of the powder sample were curve fitted using three well-resolved sextets, whose parameters confirm the perovskite phase. The 77 K Mössbauer spectrum of the MF sample, however, was curve fitted using four sextets instead, indicating a small fraction (about 5%) of the hexagonal phase.
