Titel
Energy efficiency-based supply chain configuration
Abstract
Considering the economic growth in terms of production and the limited resources, that are necessary for power generation, energy efficiency is a strongly discussed topic at the moment. But how to achieve the desired improvements without having to recur to high investment in equipment, production and product re-design? This paper addresses this subject by using two complementary approaches. First, the internal efficiency is examined by optimizing the status of the machines and peripheral equipment. In an extended consideration, the estimated energy consumption is used as a base to decide upon a specific partner in a supply chain.
