Building users and other stakeholders are often insufficiently involved in decision-making and technology choice, especially when complex buildings used or held for a long time are concerned. No suitable methodology exists to provide an appropriate scheme for choosing the right technologies for every single design. A new design process is built, integrating BIM as well as innovation and risk management, thus giving support to the stakeholders in choosing the right technology. Parts of different methods (E-OCVM, QFD) are combined together to influence the design in early phases. Therefore, risks in costs, time and low-quality can be reduced by fewer changes in later design phases. The monitoring of a building development within the framework of the publicly funded project BIMiD is used as an opportunity to validate the described process.
